How a fishing hook is made
Tosa Keisaku fishing tackle is made by hand from custom-made forged steel.
The prototype is made of wire
The basic shape of a fishing hook is a single piece of wire. This wire is cut to the length of the hook and then forged.

Cut to each size
The process from cutting the wire to drilling the holes is done by machine. It works incredibly fast, but that's all the machine work does.

Forged and bent by fire
The wire is forged and bent by artisans using skills honed over many years.

Hardening: the lifeblood of a fishing hook
The hook is then hardened, which is said to be the lifeblood of the hook. It is hardened in the traditional Tosa Keisaku fishing style, handed down from the first generation to the present day.
Plating
Various plating methods are used depending on the application.
